Born July 31, 1975, Tira, Israel - Israeli Arab, writer and journalist.
In 1990 he was admitted to the prestigious school in Jerusalem (Israel Arts and Science Academy). Studied sociology and philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Oashua lived in Beit Safafa, then moved to Jerusalem with his wife and children.
In 2014, Oashua received a teaching position in Chicago, Illinois, where he moved with his wife and children. He will participate in the Bilingualism Masterclass of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Chicago, and is a visiting professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Oashua's published a weekly column for Ha'aretz and the Jerusalem weekly Ha'ir. In a humorous and punning style, he described the problems faced by Arabs in Israel.
