Born April 27, 1978, Petah Tikva, Israel - Israeli film and television director and screenwriter.
Studied at the All-Israel Gymnasium of Art with a degree in drawing, with a specialization in comics. When mobilized into the army, she was appointed secretary of the lieutenant general, and after a while she was transferred to a military base in the Negev desert, to the position of responsible for mail. Memories of these years later served as the impetus for the creation of the film "Motivation Zero".
She began her studies at the animation department at the Bezalel Academy of Art. After a while, she moved to the Sam Spiegel Institute of Cinematography, which she graduated in 2005, with honors and special awards, having received many scholarships and prizes, including the Jerusalem Mayor's prize for the best graduate and three scholarships for excellence from the Sharet Foundation (America - Israel). She worked for Telad TV, broadcasting 3 days a week on Channel 2 of Israel TV until the 2005 mass layoffs due to the loss of broadcasting license. In the same year she participated in the Talent Studio of the Berlin Film Festival.
Teaches screenwriting at the Sam Spiegel Film Institute and has taught at the Maale School of Television, Film and Arts in Jerusalem. She has received a number of prizes at international film festivals, the most important of which is the Nora Efron Prize for the original directorial voice at the Tribeca Festival, New York 2014 (before that the prize was awarded only once). The jury led by Robert De Niro noted that “... humor, strength and intelligence are qualities that can be found in a creator. We believe this is the first burst of strong new talent. "
In 2014, she took part in the International Jerusalem Cinema Greenhouse with the script "My Present Love" based on the works of Sholem Aleichem and received the Best Director prize and the Best Screenplay prize for the film Motivation Zero at the Ophir ceremony, Israel's highest film award.
Lavi says almost nothing about her life in interviews, but once said that intense work on the film Motivation Zero destroyed her personal relationship. In addition, in an interview with Russian media, she said that she prefers to read Tolstoy, Dostoevsky and Gogol.
