Born May 13, 1949, New York, USA - British film and theater actress of American descent.

Her parents were Jewish, although Wanamaker was raised non-religiously. Her relatives are also of Ukrainian origin.

Zoe was educated at the independent King Alfred School in Hampstead, London and at the Sidcot School in Somerset. She studied at the Central School of Stage Speech and Dramatic Art.

Wanamaker's career began in theater. From 1976 to 1984 she was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 1979 she won the Laurence Olivier Prize for the play "Once In A Lifetime", and the second in 1997 for the play "Electra". In 1985, she played Giuseppina Strepponi, wife of Giuseppe Verdi, in the original production of After Aida. She also appeared in the play "Much Ado About Nothing". She was nominated for a Tony Award for her performances in Piaf, Loot, Electra, Wake Up and Sing!

Since the early 1980s, Wanamaker began acting in film and television, appearing in the miniseries Retribution. From 1992 to 1994 she appeared in the comedy television series Love Hurts. In 1999 she starred in the fantasy film "Fairyland", playing the role of the wife of a leprechaun. Played the role of Clarice in the Dark Kingdom miniseries. From 2000 to 2011, Wanamaker also played the role of Susan Harper in the comedy television series My Family.

Zoe also appeared in two episodes of Doctor Who, one voicing the fictional character Lady Cassandra (The End of the World) and the other performing live (New Earth).

Played Ariadne Oliver in several episodes of Agatha Christie's Poirot.

In 2001, she played Madame Stunt in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

In 2004, Zoe Wanamaker starred in the children's fantasy film Five Children and Magic as Martha.

And in 2011 she appeared in the film "7 Days and Nights with Marilyn" as Paula Stresberg.

The voice of Wanamaker is spoken by the blind seer Teresa in Fable II and Fable III.
