Born October 25, 1955, Los Angeles, California, USA - American film producer and screenwriter.
Graduated from Stanford University in 1977 with a degree in Economics and Trade. She began her film career as an assistant to Roger Corman at his New World Pictures company. Having come a long way up the career ladder through many administrative positions, Gail Ann Heard opens his own production company, Pacific Western Productions, in 1982.
While working at New World Pictures, Gail met then little-known aspiring director and special effects director James Cameron, who at the time was looking for sponsors for the film adaptation of The Terminator. Not trusting the newcomer, large film companies refused to take on the project, then he offered Heard to buy the script from him for a symbolic price of one dollar, on condition that Cameron himself would be the director of the film. Heard became interested in his project and at her own peril and risk she agreed to finance the film. The film received positive reviews from film critics and paid off several times at the box office, and Gail Ann Heard received her first award - the Saturn Prize (1985) for the best screenplay (with Cameron). Following the success of The Terminator, Gail marries Cameron and continues to fund his following projects: Aliens (1986) and The Abyss (1989). In 1989, she divorced Cameron.
In 1991, while working on the film Raising Cain, Gail Ann Heard met and married director Brian de Palma, but this marriage did not last long; in 1993 they divorced.
Heard currently continues to fund science fiction films and series, and has served as an executive producer on The Walking Dead television series since 2010. In addition, Gail Ann Heard is an activist of the Hollywood Committee on Women's Politics, and conducts symposia for aspiring women directors.
On October 3, 2012, Gail Ann Heard was named a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to the film industry at 6621 Hollywood Boulevard.
