Born June 2, 1973, Cleveland, Ohio is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and editor.
Anthony spent his early years in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from the Benedictine School, Anthony and his brother continued their studies at Case Western Reserve University. In parallel with their studies, they took their first steps in directing, and so in 1997 work was completed on their first full-length film "Pieces", where they also acted as producers and scriptwriters. The first experience in cinema was unusual in its own way: they financed the film using credit cards, but the result brought huge success, as for the debut film: Stephen Soderbergh noticed young directors at one of the film festivals and offered his help in producing their next film. ... In 2001 Anthony and Joe directed the short melodrama Kiss, and a year later they released an hour and a half crime comedy "Welcome to Collinwood" on wide screens. The film stars William H. Macy, Sam Rockwell and Louis Guzman, and is produced as promised by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney.
Kevin Riley (Executive Producer of FX), impressed by the brothers' talent after the movie Welcome to Collinwood, invited them to co-write the pilot for Lucky. Their work was seen by American producer and director Rod Howard and was delighted to persuade Anthony and Joe to direct several episodes for the comedy series "Arrested Development" on Fox TV. Professional critics also liked the young brothers' work and awarded them an Emmy for their footage for Arrested Development. After that Anthony also worked on the TV series "What About Brian" and began to create the next feature film. It was the comedy "He, Me and His Friends", which premiered in July 2006. Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson, Matt Dillon and Michael Douglas acted as the main characters. The film was a hit with audiences and grossed $ 140 million.
After that, the brothers worked in television for a long time, devoting their creativity to work on serials, they became directors and producers of such serial films as "Motorists", "Classmates", "The Taming of Wild", "Happy Ending" and "Veterinary Clinic". Anthony and Joe in one of their interviews admitted that they draw their inspiration from sitcoms such as "Merry Company", "MES" and "Taxi".
In 2014, a new film of directors was released - the fantastic action movie The First Avenger: The Other War, which became the sequel to the 2011 film. In the lead roles of the superhero tape, viewers saw Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan and many other actors. The world premiere of the film took place in March 2014 in the USA, and the film could be seen on the screens of cinemas in other countries already in April. There is already information about the release of a new series - "The First Avenger: Civil War", in which Russo will act as directors, and one of the main roles will be played by Robert Downey Jr. The final stage of work on the tape is planned for 2016. The directors are also working on another project - the thriller "Ciudad" according to their own script.
