Jason was born on June 13, 1978 in Texas, the oldest of three children. His family moved to Youngsville, Franklinton, North Carolina, where he grew up in a religious and rather strict family. His father, being a preacher, did not allow any secular music at home or even on family car rides. His dad went as far as to give his son a "bang" when he found a copy of "Achy Breaky Heart" under his pillow. Jason's musical talent was seen in the Church from a very early age.
