Born March 8, 1974, Santiago, Chile - Chilean director, screenwriter, editor and producer.

Sebastian was the couple's only son, but has seven half-brothers. After studying journalism at the University of Andres Bello for a year, he graduated from the Chilean Film School in Santiago, and began his film career with the filming of short films (from 1995 to 2003 he shot 5 such tapes), music videos and documentaries.

In 2005, Sebastian Lelio made his feature film debut, The Holy Family, which premiered at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. Filmed over three days and edited over a period of nearly one year, the film has been screened in over one hundred film festivals and won a number of national and international awards. In 2009, Lelio's second feature film, Christmas, was released and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

Lelio's third feature film, Year of the Tiger, premiered at the 2011 Locarno International Film Festival. The film is set in the aftermath of the 2010 Chile earthquake and follows a fugitive who travels to the areas most affected by the earthquake.

Lelio's fourth feature film, Gloria, won the 2012 Progress in Cinema award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The world premiere of the film took place at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival, where it was a success and was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Actress, played by actress Paulina Garcia.

In 2017, Sebastian Lelio released his fifth feature film Fantastic Woman, which premiered at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival where he won the Ecumenical Jury Prize and the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film. In 2018, the film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe and won an Academy Awards Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
