Andres Wood was born in Santiago. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics of the Catholic University of Chile in 1988, he went to study directing in New York (1990 - 1991). His feature-length debut, Football Stories, was a national hit and won numerous international awards, including Best Director at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Festival success accompanied all his subsequent works - "Revenge" (1999), "Loko Season" (2000), "Machuka" (the film was nominated for an "Oscar"), "Good Life" (2008).
