Studied at Eton College.
Sebastian began his acting career with theater. He has appeared in some of the most famous theatrical productions in the UK, including performances at the National Theater and at the Royal Court.
In 2005, he played the role of Broff in the TV series Doctor Who. From 2007 to 2010, he played the role of Charles V in the TV series The Tudors. Later he appeared in the series Zen, The Palace and Little Dorrit. In 2011 he played the role of King Ferninand IV in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. In 2017 he starred in the films Grace and Tulip Fever.
