September 6, 1885 - September 6, 1974 - German American actor.
Great-nephew of South African President Paul Kruger. Otto Kruger received his musical education. But later he decided to become an actor. He made his Broadway debut at the age of 15. His acting career peaked in the 1920s and 1930s when he starred in Chained (1934), starring Joan Crawford and Clark Gable. His role was to play villains and corrupt businessmen. One of his notable roles was in Douglas Sirk's Magnificent Obsession (1954). Krueger also played a supporting role as Judge Percy Metrick in High Noon (1952). He also starred in a number of television series. Kruger died on his 89th birthday. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
