Born April 26, 1981, better known as Caro Emerald, is a Dutch jazz singer. She debuted on July 6, 2009 with the single "Back It Up". Her first studio album, Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor, spent 30 weeks at # 1 on the Dutch charts, one week ahead of Michael Jackson's Thriller record, to become the best-selling disc of 2010 in the Netherlands. On October 3, 2010 Karo Emerald was awarded the Edison Dutch Music Prize. in the category "Best Singer" .
On January 15, 2011 she received the Popprijs prize for her great contribution to Dutch pop music.
