Born 5 April 1955, London, England, UK - British writer, screenwriter and television producer.
His father was a wealthy businessman. The mother is a rather eccentric person (for example, on the 13th birthday of her son, she gave him a human skull). At the age of eight, the boy was sent to a privileged London boarding school, where children were disciplined in a very rude manner. Trying to distance himself from reality, Horowitz begins to compose stories in which his characters are able to avenge the wrongs inflicted on them. Thus, already in his school years, Anthony dreamed of becoming a writer.
Horowitz's first book, The Sinister Secret of Frederick K Bower, is published in 1979. Since that time he has worked as a freelance writer and is considered one of the most successful contemporary English-speaking authors. In addition to writing, he works as a screenwriter for film, television and theater. His books have been published in over 30 countries.
Horowitz's novels and book series are primarily about adventure and detective stories.
Anthony Horowitz is the first writer to be personally approached by the Conan Doyle Heritage Foundation to write a new detective story about Sherlock Holmes. The book was named "House of Silk".
