Good Charlotte is an American punk rock band. The group was founded by the Madden brothers in 1996. Current line-up: Benji Madden, Joel Madden, Paul Thomas, Billy Martin and Dean Butterworth. After the release of the band's debut mini-album Another EP in 1999, the musicians started working on their first LP. As a result, a year later, Good Charlotte was released - the band's self-titled full-length disc. No miracles were expected from young punks, but their first serious work sold out in large circulation and even received gold status in the states.
With the next LP, The Young and the Hopeless, in 2002, the band climbed to the top of the charts, making themselves known to the global punk community. In total, almost five million copies of the album were sold. The album was certified triple platinum. Good Charlotte has appeared on Saturday Night and The Today Show, has been on CNN and featured in Alternative Press, Rolling Stone and The New York Times. The band's videos were regularly played on MTV and other music channels.
Good Charlotte's third full-length studio disc was released in 2004. The record was called The Chronicles of Life and Death. This time, the guys faced mixed reviews about their work. Nevertheless, the album sold well. We can say that in sound it stood out against the background of the group's previous works, being more lyrical. In support of the album, Good Charlotte played many concerts with other big names like Relient and Simple Plan.
The fourth LP, Good Morning Revival, was released in 2007. The band changed their sound again, this time more successfully. The album sold four and a half million copies. The fifth album, Cardiology, was also a success. The album delighted Good Charlotte fans in 2010. After that, the musicians announced a hiatus. The next replenishment of the group's discography is scheduled for 2015.
