An English alternative rock group formed in the late 1980s by two former members of The Housemartins, Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway. The Beautiful South also included Sean Welch (bass), Dave Stead (drums) and Dave Rotheray (guitar), as well as (alternately) vocalists Brian Corrigan, Jackie Abbott and Alison Wheeler.
