Born January 9, 1967, Johannesburg is a South African and American musician and actor who formed the American rock group Dave Matthews Band in 1991. With their tireless concert tours in the USA, Dave and his companions have attracted a lot of loyal fans to their camp. They play a pop-oriented variety of rock music that - modeled on the Grateful Dead - is open to a wide variety of musical influences. After the release of Under the Table and Dreaming (1994) with 100% hits like Dancing Nancies, they made their way from alternative rock to the mainstream. In 2004 they toured the United States with Bruce Springsteen, and a year earlier Dave was awarded the Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal.
