Born March 18, 1964, Miyagi, Japan is a composer and keyboardist, one of the most famous female composers in Japan.
She began composing and playing musical instruments at the age of 3, and by the time she graduated from school she already had a sufficient command of musical instruments and styles. Yoko Kanno began her professional career as a musician in 1987, joining the Tetsu band 100%; then she joined Koei. Her first anime job was the soundtrack for the film Macross Plus, after which she quit Koei and began her own musical career.
She is the leader of The Seatbelts, formed for the sole purpose of recording the soundtrack for the anime series Cowboy Bebop.
