Born October 4, 1971, Tokyo, Japan is a Japanese animator, director and screenwriter for anime.
Imaisi began his career at Gainax Studios in 1995, where he worked on Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Imaisi's first directorial work is an anime Dead Leaves by Production IG
His next anime, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, was awarded at the Japan Media Arts Festival in 2007, and Imaishi himself received an award at the 12th Animation Kobe Festival. In 2008 at the Tokyo International Anime Fair TTGL received two awards at once - "best TV series", "best character design".
In 2011, Imaishi, along with Masahiko Otsuka and some other studio staff, left Gainax and founded the Trigger studio, where he worked on the anime Kill la Kill.
