Born April 23, 1928 - American actress, 1934 Academy Youth Award winner (youngest person to win an Oscar), best known for her childhood roles in the 1930s. Her successful career began at the age of six when she appeared in Shining Eyes (1934), followed by a series of successful new films that made Shirley Temple one of the highest paid US actresses during the Great Depression. After completing her acting career, she entered politics, becoming a prominent American diplomat and ambassador. Included in AFI's 100 Greatest Movie Stars of 100 Years at No. 18.
