Born August 29, 1935, Chicago is an American film director and screenwriter best known for The Exorcist and The French Messenger, which, along with Francis Ford Coppola, Michael Cimino and Peter Bogdanovich, became one of the main directors of New Hollywood. And "The French Messenger" brought Fridkin the Oscar for Best Director. In the future, Fridkin's films were accompanied by much less success.
