Born April 3, 1932 in Novomoskovsk (Dnepropetrovsk region).
Graduated from the camera department of VGIK (1955, workshop of A.V. Galperin), diploma work - "Journey to Youth" (1956) .
The eldest of the three Ilienko brothers (all filmmakers).
Since 1955 - director of photography at the Kiev Film Studio named after A.P. Dovzhenko.
Filmed also at the Odessa Film Studio and the studio "Ukrtelefilm" .
Honored Artist of the Abkhaz SSR (1974);
Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1978).
