Actor Helend Pap was born on July 29, 1910. The town of Wyckl, the birthplace of Peep, belonged to the Kohtlayar district of the Estonian province, then the Russian Empire.

Helend was very fond of singing from an early age. In 1938 he became a soloist of the choir at the Vanemuine Theater in Tartu. The young man was very artistic, his appearance was outstanding, in the theater they paid attention to him and gave him the opportunity to test himself as an actor. Two years later, change again - Peep moves to Tallinn Youth Theater. And then he returns to Tartu again. It turned out that the Vanemuine theater sunk into the heart of the actor, where he felt at home. The whole subsequent life of the actor will be connected with this theater, up to 2001. Moreover, Peep again performs here both as an actor and as an opera soloist.

The actor appears in the cinema at a rather mature age. The first film with Helend Pep comes out in 1961. It was a picture of the Guys of a Village. The film tells about ordinary fishermen, who are carried away in a storm to the sea to the shores of Finland. Here they will have to make a choice - to stay in a free country and live happily ever after or return to their homeland.
