The legendary singer, performer of many popular hits, owner of an unrivaled contralto Sofia Mikhailovna was born in Ukraine, in the Chernivtsi region. Her musical talent showed itself even in early childhood - she enthusiastically played the button accordion, sang in the local choir, gravitated towards sports, and especially loved athletics.
In 1962 Sofia Rotaru won a vocal competition in Chernivtsi, and then took part in the Ukrainian festival of young talents. It was these victories that pushed the young girl to devote her whole life to music: she graduated from a music school and began to teach vocals.
In 1968, Sofia Mikhailovna meets the actor Tolya Evdokimenko and after a while becomes his wife, and later gives birth to his beloved wife, son Ruslan. In 1971, the first film with Sofia Rotaru in the role of the main star was released - the musical by Vasily Selezinka Chervon Ruta, after which the performer was offered to become the star of a new folk ensemble of the same name. From that moment on, the singer began to work closely with the genius Soviet composer Vladimir Mikhailovich Ivasyuk, her repertoire became more and more famous, and her hits were played annually in the Song of the Year.
Today, on the account of the cult singer - more than 40 music albums, the last of which - And my soul flies, saw the world in 2011 (sold exclusively at Rotaru concerts); about 20 cinematographic works; the title of Honored Artist of the Ukrainian and Moldavian SSR, People's Artist of the USSR; countless orders, awards and honors.
