In 1925-1929 he worked as a blacksmith and mechanic at the Krasny Oktyabr plant in Stalingrad.
In 1929-1936 he served in the Pacific and Baltic fleets, took part in amateur performances.
Since 1936 - in TRAM.
In 1945-1959 he was an actor at the Film Actor's Studio Theater.
Since 1959 - actor of the Gorky Film Studio.
He also acted as a pop artist.
He was buried at the Khimki cemetery (plot number 24).
