Born May 14, 1939 in Konigsberg.
Her father, Count Heinrich von Lehndorf-Steinort, took part in the July 20 Conspiracy, was captured and executed.
In her youth, Vera studied art in Hamburg. Then she moved to Florence, where she attracted the attention of the photographer Hugo Mulas and soon began to work as a model. After moving to Paris, where she met Eileen Ford, head of the American modeling agency Ford Models, she decided to pursue a career in New York, where she went in 1961.
