Mikhail Georgievich Gelovani was born on January 6, 1893 in the village of Lasuria, Russian Empire. His family owned a fairly large family plot and were engaged in agriculture. It cannot be said that they were poor, but rich too. A rare middle class of the late 19th century. From an early age, Mikhail Gelovani had a good voice. Parents noticed his talent early and sent him to the church choir, where he stayed for about eight years. At first, the roles of Mikhail Gelovani did not differ much from each other, but over time, his characters developed, like the actor himself.
In 1924, Mikhail received the first offer to try himself in cinema, to which he willingly agrees. For several years he has been acting as an actor, and later decides to take up directing. Mikhail never left the theater, there was always a place where they were glad to see him, from time to time he went on tour with various troupes, while filming films. The last film with Mikhail Gelovani is called Hostile Whirlwinds.
For his services and contribution to art he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR and several Stalin Prizes of the first degree.
Mikhail Gelovani died on December 21, 1956 from a heart attack.
