December 23, 1916, Milan - June 7, 2008, Rome - Italian filmmaker, one of the leading comedians in Italy.
A certified physician, Risi got on the set thanks to Mario Soldati, who invited him as an assistant on his debut film, Giacomo the Idealist.
In 1952, Reese directed his first full-length feature film.
Although Reese primarily directed comedy, his most famous film was the non-comedy Scent of a Woman (1974). For this film, Reese was nominated for an Oscar in two nominations.
In 2002 he received the Golden Lion Award for his contribution to cinema.
He died on June 7, 2008, at the age of 92, at his home in Rome.
