V. Kuzin began his creative career in provincial theaters. First, the actor played on the stage of the "Red Torch" (1951) and the Theater for Young Spectators (1955-1963) in Novosibirsk, later - in the Pskov Drama Theater (1963-1967), as well as in the Petrozavodsk Music and Drama Theater (1967-1969) and the Small drama theater (1970-1972). It was here that, for twelve years of permanent work, Valery Kuzin played his best theatrical roles: Teklon in the play Cricket on the Stove (1991), Obroshenov in the Jokers (1992), Tsar Dormidont in the play Afraid of Grief - Happiness Can't Be Seen (1994). It was this image that brought the actor a diploma at the Theaters of St. Petersburg festival for children.

For the first time in a movie V. Kuzin starred in 1974, when he played a cameo role in the film The Story of the Human Heart. The entire filmography of the actor includes more than thirty films. Over the years, the best films with Valery Kuzin were released: Julia Vrevskaya (1977), Marry a Captain (1985), Racket (1992) and others.
