Born June 13, 1962, New York - American film actress.
At thirteen, Sheedy wrote a children's book, She was nice to mice, about mice at the court of the Queen of England. Ellie began performing in various local theater productions during her teenage years. Ellie graduated from Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York in 1980 .
For the first time in a movie, she appeared in the film "Bad Boys" with Sean Penn. This was followed by several more roles in the successful films "War Games", "The Breakfast Club", "St. Elmo's Lights". Ellie began to be ranked among the new generation of stars along with Demi Moore. However, after the initial burst of popularity, Ellie played in several failed films ("Heart of Dixie", "Maid to Order"), which flopped at the box office. After that, she was no longer invited to the shooting. In the opinion of Hollywood officials, Sheedy did not meet what was required of a potential movie star. According to Sheedy herself in an interview with Salon Entertainment magazine: "I was considered cold as ice, unfit for roles in films, unfit for work, unfit for sex." Managers and agents advised her to "fix her breasts", wear more makeup and less clothing, and hanging out with more successful movie stars. "They said to me, 'The problem is, nobody wants to fuck you,' and my career went straight to the trash heap." In the late 1980s, Ellie entered a difficult period in her life - she was treated for addiction to sleeping pills and bulimia. During this period, Ellie's film career was considered over forever. In 1989, after treatment, Ellie moved to New York and gradually began to play roles in television and video films again. On October 10, 1992, Ellie married actor David Lansbury. In 1994, their daughter Rebecca was born. For several years, Ellie studied acting with renowned coach Harold Guskin. In 1998, she played the role of photographer Lucy Berliner in the critically acclaimed film High Art. For this role, Sheedy was awarded the Independent Spirit Awards and the National Society of Film Critics Awards. In 2005, Ellie, along with the other cast members of Breakfast Club, was awarded the MTV Award in honor of the 20th anniversary of the release of this youth film.
