Ivan Bersenev (real name - Pavlishchev) was born on April 23, 1889. The actor's youth took place in Kiev. There he studied first at the gymnasium, and then at the law faculty of Kiev University, at the same time he took theater lessons at the school of E. Lepkovsky. Even then, the young actor performed on the stage, but under the pseudonym Ivan Bersenev, since school students were forbidden to go on stage.
Once Ivan Duvan-Tortsov, an entrepreneur of the Kiev Solovtsov Theater, became interested in the actor's game, he invited Ivan Bersenev to his troupe. The actor left his studies at the university and went on tour in Ukrainian cities. The roles of Ivan Bersenev were mostly heroic. Ivan gave this theater 4 years, and in 1911 he moved to work at the Moscow Art Theater. Then he worked at the Theater. Mossovet (1936-1938), and after was an actor and head of the Theater.
