Grew up in the family of writer, screenwriter and director Sergei Bodrov Sr.

As a child, Sergei Bodrov loved to be alone and "got along just fine".

Sergey studied at school number 1265 with in-depth study of the French language. Teachers say that he was moderately agile and whimsical, but was never evil or dirty.

The school assigned Sergei the duty of the standard bearer. Every Wednesday Bodrov's class went to the Udarnitsa factory after school to pack sweet products. For four hours, the schoolchildren packed the sweets into boxes, which they then bandaged themselves. The money they earned was given to the school, and they went to organize excursions.

In December 2012, a memorial plaque was erected at the school in memory of Sergei Bodrov.

Bodrov wanted to enter VGIK, but his father explained to him that cinema is a passion, and if it is not there, then you need to either wait or forget about it forever. Not feeling such a passion in himself, Sergei was forced to abandon his plan.

From 1989 to 1994 he studied at the Department of History and Theory of Art, Faculty of History, Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov, specializing in painting of the Venetian Renaissance. Sergei graduated from the university with honors and remained in graduate school, but he was sure that he would not work either in a museum or in a library. At the university, Sergei, according to him, learned to see beauty in simple things, in what surrounded him. And, having already become a famous actor and TV presenter, S. In 1991 Sergey studied art in Italy. He managed to get a job as a lifeguard on a beach in a local resort town and earn money to travel around the country. The next three summers Bodrov came here for this job and was considered lucky on the course.

Graduated from the history department of Moscow State University (department of art history) in 1993.

In 1998 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on "Architecture in Venetian Renaissance Painting".

In 1996-1999 - the host of the program "Vzglyad" (ORT).

In 2001, as a presenter, he took part in the "Last Hero" program on Channel One.

Started working in cinema at the suggestion of his father. He gained particular popularity with viewers by playing a role in the films "Brother" (1997) and "Brother-2" (2000).

In 2001 he made his directing debut with Sisters.

In the summer of 2002, Bodrov began working on his new film - the mystical drama The Messenger. In the evening of September 20, 2002, he disappeared without a trace in the Karmadon Gorge in North Ossetia, where the film crew found themselves on the way of the descended Kolka glacier.
