Vasily Vasilyevich Vanin was born on January 1, 1898 in the city of Tambov. His father was a small railroad worker and died when the boy was 8 years old. After that, Vasily was sent to an orphanage, but this did not prevent him from soon becoming an actor. In 1915 he worked as an extra and stage worker at the Pikulin Theater. Vasily Vanin got his first role in 1919, it was the play Tunnel.
In 1920, the actor finishes courses at the Tambov Drama Studio. In the same year he was mobilized into the Red Army, from where he returned a year later. Begins performing on the stage of the Lunacharsky Theater. In 1922, Vanin left for Petrograd, where the Crooked Mirror Theater took him under its wing, to which he gave a year of his life, and then moved to the Ryazan City Theater. During all this time, the actor appeared on the stages a huge number of times. The most successful roles of Vasily Vanin were in such performances as Beside, The Inspector General, Nedorosl, Chapaev and others.
Started working in cinema in 1927.
