People's Artist of the RSFSR, famous theater and film actor Semyon Borisovich Mezhinsky began his life from Kupyansk, Kharkov province, where he was born in 1889, on October 6. Semyon Mezhinsky studied acting at the School of Stage Arts (1918-1919) in Kharkov. On the stage of the Kharkov Drama Theater, the actor began his creative activity. The bright characteristic appearance, temperament and stage expressiveness allowed the young actor to play the roles of the Shepherd in "Dawn", Wurm in "Treachery and Love", Count Metternich in "Eaglet". In 1924, Mezhinsky moved to Moscow and entered the service at the Maly Theater (1933-1959), having previously worked at the Comedy Theater. He was fortunate enough to play Fayunin perfectly in Invasion, Pologa in Enemies, Salieri in Mozart and Salieri, and many other wonderful characters.

Mezhinsky's film actor's track record is small, only six films, but each new image of the actor is characterized by rich imagination and realism, surprisingly delicately combined with satirical poignancy. The first work in cinema was for Semyon Borisovich the role of a pharmacist in the Swamp Soldiers (1938). Semyon Mezhinsky played the main roles in the historical film directed by A. Minkin, Professor Mamlok (1938). Here he plays the German professor Mamlok, whose social views are changing under the influence of important historical events. The actor also plays the title role of Mr. Felix Grande - a stingy, cunning and hypocritical person in the film play by Eugene Grande (2014).

Viewers remember well the films with Semyon Mezhinsky Valery Chkalov (1941), in which the actor plays G. Ordzhonikidze, Kutuzov (1943) - the role of Emperor Napoleon, as well as the Court of Honor, where Mezhinsky starred in the image of the American scientist Carter.

Death overtook the actor on October 16, 1978.
