Albert Mkrtchyan is a famous Armenian director who gained fame in the Soviet Union. He is also the author of many scripts. He is the younger brother of the famous actor, People's Artist of the USSR - Frunzik Mkrtchyan. In 1987 he received the title of Honored Artist of Armenia. Albert was born in 1937, on February 27, in the city of Leninakan (now called Gyumri), in Armenia. He was educated at the Yerevan Theater and Art Institute, after which he graduated from the directing department at VGIK. Since 1962 he took up the post of director at Yerevan Television, and in 1982 he became a professor at the Department of Cinema at the Pedagogical Institute of Armenia. In 1985 he won the State Prize for the film Good Half of Life. Cinema with Albert Mkrtchyan as a director was filmed regularly: Photography (1969) - Albert's debut directorial work, Monument (1972), Stone Valley (1977), Good Half of Life (1979), Hard Rock (1974), Big Win (1980), Song of Days Gone (1982), Breath (1989), Tango of Our Childhood (1985), Fun Bus (2000) and Dawn on a Sad Street (2008). Scripts by Albert Mushegovich were written for such films: Song of the Days gone by (1982), Breath (1989), Tango of Our Childhood (1985), and Fun Bus (2000).
Since 2006, Albert Mushegovich became the artistic director of the National Cinema Center of Armenia. He is married, and his son Mher followed in the footsteps of his talented and famous father, also becoming a screenwriter, quite a popular director and film producer.
