Soviet actor Frunzik Mkrtchyan, who has fallen in love with more than one generation of viewers, was born in 1930 in a simple working-class family. The parents decided to name the boy in honor of M. V. Frunze. Little Frunzik drew very well, and his father hoped that in the future a famous artist would appear in the family, but a ten-year-old child is fond of theater and begins to attend a drama circle. The boy's relatives and friends realized that the future famous actor was growing up in the family. After leaving school, the young man goes to work at the plant, as he needed to help the family. The father was sentenced to 10 years for theft, and the mother's salary was not enough to feed the family.
After working at the plant for several years, he nevertheless enters the Theater and Art Institute in Yerevan. Graduated from the institute with brilliance and in 1956 was invited to the theater. Sundukyan. In the theater, he very quickly becomes a leading actor and enjoys success with inveterate theatergoers.
It was then, in the 1950s, that he began auditioning for cinema. Starred in a small role in the film by Alexander Rowe. The next movie with Frunzik Mkrtchyan was released in 1960 - The Guys of the Music Team, and this picture can be considered the film debut of the young actor. This is followed by a long break in filming until he is offered a role in the film Aibolit-66. In this picture, he plays the role of one of the robbers, this trio of villains immediately won the hearts of all Soviet TV viewers. In the same year, he starred in the cult comedy Prisoner of the Caucasus.
These two films made Frunzik the most popular comedian in the USSR.
In the 1970s, due to a difficult family situation, the actor had to give up roles. The fact is that his wife, Danara, is suffering from schizophrenia, and he was forced to stay at home.
A new wave of popularity comes to Mkrtchyan when the new comedy by Georgy Danelia Mimino is released. Further, such films with the participation of Frunzik Mkrtchyan are released: Bagdasar divorces his wife, Vanity of vanities, Stone Valley.

In the 1980s, he practically ceased to act in films, and in the early 1990s he left his native theater.
The legendary actor died in Yerevan in winter 1993.
