Actor, director, screenwriter and producer Garry Marshall (birth name Garry Macchiarelli) was born in New York, USA on November 13, 1934. Harry's younger sister, Penny Marshall, with the help of her older brother - actress, director and producer.
At the initial stage of his career in show business, he worked as a humorous writer. He graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. For some time he worked as a sports columnist.
He gained his first popularity by creating several popular television series, such as "The Strange Couple" (1970 - 1975), "Laverne and Shirley" (1976 - 1983), "Mork and Mindy" (1978 - 1982). In total, during his career, he created about a dozen full-length films, among which such greatest hits as: Overboard (1987) with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Pretty Woman (1990) and Runaway Bride (1999) with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts and How to Become a Princess 1 (2001) and How to Become a Princess 2 (2004) .

He is married to actress Barbara Marshall, who occasionally appears in films to which Garry is involved. Father of three children.
