Born November 8, 1906 in Berlin.
At the end of the 1920s. - an actor of workers' theaters, joins the agitprop group "Column Links".
In 1931-1945. lived in the USSR, worked in the Theater of Working Youth in Moscow, then - in the theater in German (leaders - E. Piskator, G. Wangenheim).
In 1945 he returned to Germany. One of the organizers and heads of the film studio "DEFA" .
He died on October 30, 1988.
