The popular German actor, famous public figure Heinrich Greif was born in Dresden in 1907. In 1926, the young man entered the Volksbuhn Studio School, which at that time was directed by the outstanding director Erwin Piscator. A year later, Heinrich began to play in the productions of Piscator, as well as in Troupe 1931 - the agitprop group of Gustav von Wangenheim.

In 1933, Greif will become a member of the German Communist Party, and after Hitler came to power and the establishment of fascist ideology, he will begin to conduct secret trade union and party work. The quartet of Greif's productions closes with an episodic role in the military-historical film It was in Donbass (1945), after filming in which the actor returns to Germany, where he begins to play at the Deutsches Theater named after M. Reinhardt, and a little later holds a post in the Department of Culture of the city of Dresden ...
