Yuri Nikulin was born into a family of actors on December 18, 1921. After several years, the family from Demidov left for Moscow. After graduating, Nikulin went to serve in the army. He fought, suffered a shell shock, left the front as a senior sergeant, and was awarded medals.
Paradoxically, Nikulin's post-war efforts to get into theatrical universities ended in nothing.
