Born May 19, 1949, Rostov-on-Don, USSR (Russia) - Soviet and Russian theater and film actress, producer.
Studied at the Theater Studio of the Rostov Palace of Pioneers with Tamara Ilyinskaya.
In 1970 she graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School, course of Alexander Karev.
She began her acting career at the Rostov Drama Theater named after Maxim Gorky. Her first roles were in the performances "Dark History" and "Tales of the Old Arbat". She played the main roles.
After working for two years, she moved to Moscow, where she was accepted into the troupe of the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya.
She worked at the Malaya Bronnaya Theater for 36 years - until the fall of 2011 (she retired).
Worked at the Taganka Theater. She made her film debut in 1970.
Elena Smirnova Honored Artist of Russia (2004).
