Alexander Golitsyn - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, artist, producer.

February 28, 1908, Moscow, Russian Empire (Russia) - July 26, 2005, San Diego, California, USA - American art director and producer from the famous Russian noble family Golitsyn.

His grandfather V. M. Golitsyn in 1887-1891. was the Moscow governor.

After the October Revolution, he emigrated with his parents through Siberia to Harbin. At the age of 16, he moved to the United States, where he completed his secondary education in Seattle. He then attended the University of Washington, graduating with a degree in architecture.

Started his career as a production designer in Los Angeles, as an assistant to Alexander Tolubov, art director at MGM. In 1939 he began working together with Walter Wagner, together they participated in the production of many films. Starting in 1942, and for the next 30 years, Golitsyn was the art director of the division, and later the art director supervisor at Universal Studios, overseeing the production of dozens of films.

Alexander Golitsyn was first nominated for an Academy Award for his work in the film Foreign Correspondent in 1940.

He served on the Board of Directors of the Academy for several years.

During his time in Hollywood, he participated in the creation of 329 films.

Modeled the Cosmopolitan Confectionery on Poto Ayrando for his friend Valentin Morozov.

Alexander Golitsyn is a three-time Oscar winner for the best work of a production designer (in 1943, 1960 and 1962).
