Finnish cultural activist Matti Pelonpaa was born in the Finnish city of Helsinki on March 28, 1951. During his life he was actively involved in creative work. He was also an actor who took up work in films of various genres and was also professionally engaged in music. Matti Pelonpaa started his career early enough. Already in 1962, he was an actor in the Finnish broadcasting company YLE. Matti received his education at the Theater Academy, from which he graduated in 1977. During his studies, the actor actively collaborated with various amateur theaters, playing many different roles. A career in cinema is closely connected with the Finnish brothers of directors Mickey and Aki Kaurismaki. They loved to work with the actor, since he was completely devoted to work, he was never late for shooting. On the screen he always looked natural, fully living in the role. Films starring Matti Pelonpaa have won prestigious European awards more than once.
Actor professionally engaged in music. He was a member of the rock band Sleepy Sleepers, and in 1989 he founded his own group Peltsix, which existed until his death. He was the leader of this group, acted as a soloist and songwriter. The pieces performed by Peltsix became instant hits. Unfortunately, the last film with Matti Pelonpaa was never made. The actor was approved for the lead role in the film Clouds Floating Away by the famous Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki, which was written especially for Matti. But before filming began, the actor had a heart attack, from which he died on July 13, 1995 in the city of Vaasa. Aki Kaurismaki did not take another actor, rewrote the role and made the main character a woman.
