Peteris Liepin was born on May 28, 1943 in Ergli, Latvia in a peasant family. The elder brother of the future actor, Edgar Liepin, was an actor in the State Theater of Young Spectators of the Latvian SSR. After graduating from high school, Peteris Liepins decides to devote his life to theatrical art and from the first attempt becomes a student of the theater department of the Jazep Vitols Latvian State Conservatory. Immediately after completing the course at the conservatory, the young actor receives an invitation to the Art Academic Theater named after I. J. Rainis (now Dailes Theater), where he soon becomes one of the leading actors. His best theatrical works of this period undoubtedly can be considered the classical images of Senectus staged by Caligula based on the play by Albert Camus and Polonius in the play Hamlet. And of course many viewers will remember him for the main role of the charming Sherlock Holmes in the famous musical of the same name, which became a joint work of Janis Peters and Raymond Pauls.

A huge number of viewers remembered and fell in love with the bright and versatile roles of Peteris Liepin, the range of which is very wide - from children's performances to dramatic plays and comedy musicals. Thanks to his innate charm, talent and enormous hard work, the actor manages to make even the most insignificant of the roles colorful and memorable.

In 1972, the artist made his film debut, playing a cameo role in the adventure comedy directed by Alexander Leimanis, The Devil's Servant in the Devil's Mill, after which he played a small role as a milling machine operator in the next film by a talented director called Oleg and Aina. But the first really significant work of the actor is the image of the energetic Guntis in the short film directed by Roland Kalnins, Seaside Climate. Among the roles of a talented artist, each viewer will find a favorite image for himself. Someone remembered him and fell in love in the image of the energetic Zigis in the crime thriller directed by Alois Branch Presents on the phone or the charismatic bartender in the thriller The Brothers Rico directed by Gennady Ivanov. Fans of drama will surely appreciate the actor's masterfully embodied image of Albin's father in the poignant drama of director Olgert Dunkertis Sad with a ghost, or Vitold in the crime drama When the brakes are handed over by director Gunnar Tsilinsky. And cartoon lovers will probably remember him after he voiced one of the main roles in the kind and touching fantasy Mill of the Cat, filmed by the talented director Rosalia Stiebra.
