People's Artist of Russia, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, Russian theater and film actor Vladimir Lyakhovitsky was born in Smolensk in 1925. By the age of twenty, he was accepted into the studio of the Moscow Operetta Theater. Three years later, Lyakhovitsky entered the Glazunov Music and Theater School. And in 1952 he became a student of the musical comedy department at GITIS.

Since 1953, Vladimir has performed at the Musical Comedy Theater located in Ivanovo. Here he quickly established himself as a versatile actor, playing characters dissimilar to each other. At the Musical Comedy Theater, the artist took part in the productions of Free Wind (as Yanko), Silva (as Boni), Violet of Montmartre (as Frascati).

After meeting Arkady Raikin in 1956, Lyakhovitsky moved to the Leningrad Theater of Miniatures. Soon Vladimir became the leading actors of the institution. Raikin highly appreciated Lyakhovitsky's skill and, being the founder of the theater, often performed in tandem with Vladimir. Lyakhovitsky's heroes were most often grabbers, bureaucrats and power-hungry, but also small, downtrodden and indecisive people. Vladimir masterfully created sharp, bright and juicy images.

Since 1961, the artist has often performed in a duet with his colleague Maxim Maximov. In 1967, the first film with Vladimir Lyakhovitsky was released - a film concert called Address: Theater. In 1980, the actor left the Leningrad Theater and got a job at the Mosconcert with Maximov. Here they continued to perform as a duet, and since 1993 - separately. Being seriously ill, Vladimir left for Germany in 2000, where he died two years later.

Before his death, Lyakhovitsky managed to star in several more films: Bat, Goldfish, Chicken Ryaba, People and Mannequins, 24 Hours and others. Watch films with Vladimir Lyakhovitsky on our website.
