Born on March 2, 1938 in Moscow.
Since 1957, he collaborated with Moscow newspapers, was an actor in various Moscow theaters. In 1958 he became an assistant director at the Mosfilm film studio.
In 1967, Alexander Blank graduated from the directing department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, where he studied in the workshop of popular science cinema with Boris Dolin.
The director made his first film "Cement" only in 1973. The television series of Alexander Blanca "Gypsy" (1979) and "Return of Budulai" (1985) still enjoy huge audience love.
Other films of the director include "Profession - an investigator" (1982), "Winter in Paradise" (1989), "Halt of Wanderers" (1991).
Blanc's last film was "The Lilac Estate" (1999), dedicated to the Gorki Leninskiye estate near Moscow. This work was awarded the Silver Pegasus prize at the Moscow Pegasus 2000 film festival. Gruvemuvestart

He passed away in Moscow on October 23, 2000 right on the set. He was buried at the Vostryakovskoye cemetery.
