The future French actor and musician of Portuguese origin - Luis Rego - was born in Lisbon on May 30, 1943. In those years, the country was ruled by a dictatorship, and in order to avoid military service in Angola, at the age of seventeen, the young man left the country, began a career as a musician, became a rhythm guitarist in the singer's group Antoine. But Louis still did not manage to escape from the army, he was found and arrested for desertion. He was imprisoned in a Portuguese prison for several months, later serving in the Portuguese army from 1960 to 1962. To support their colleague, the band writes a song about him called Ballad Luis Rego. This song gave the band some minor problems.
A few years later, when the guy adapted from the dictatorial regime during the service, Rego created in 1966 the pop group Charlot, which immediately became popular. In addition to Luis, the group included Gerard Rinald, Gerard Filipelli and Jean-Guy Feschner. The songs were performed in a grotesque-parody genre little known at that time. But the listeners liked their music. At the beginning of 1970, the musician and his group appeared in films.
