Born August 2, 1976, Godalming, Surrey is an Australian actor originally from England.
Grew up and lived in Australia for a long time. He studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) in Sydney.
Until 2006, Sam was best known for his roles in television series in Australia. After 2002, he starred in several episodic roles in Hollywood films ("Hart's War", "The Great Raid"). In 2006, Worthington auditioned for the role of James Bond in Casino Royale.
In 2007, Worthington auditioned for the lead role of Jake Sully in James Cameron's Avatar, which brought him worldwide fame. On Cameron's recommendation, he played Marcus Wright in Terminator: May the Savior Come. He played the role of Perseus in the 2010 blockbuster Clash of the Titans.
Worthington voiced Alex Mason, the main protagonist of Call of Duty: Black Ops in 2010 and Call of Duty: Black Ops II in 2012. In 2011, Sam co-starred with John Hill in a pre-release commercial for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
In 2015, Sam appeared as Guy Cotter, friend and compatriot of the deceased Rob Hall, head of the New Zealand Adventure Consultants expedition, in the film Everest, which tells the story of the sensational ascent of Mount Chomolungma in 1996, which ended in disaster. In the tape, his hero is negotiating by radio communication from the base camp with Rob Hall, who is stuck on the mountain.
