Born March 29, 1960 and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Italian American parents. Her mother works as a fashion stylist, and her father is a supporter of vegetarianism. She attended dance classes as a child, and later took drama lessons at the Hagen-Berghoff Studio and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Dropped out of college to pursue an acting career. In 1981, she founded the Brass Ring Theater Company.
