Born October 10, 1971, Mexico City - Mexican film director.
He studied law in Mexico City, later worked in the diplomatic service in London and Brussels. He turned to film directing under the influence of the films of Andrei Tarkovsky. With his first film, Japan (2002), he took part in the Cannes Film Festival and won the Golden Camera prize there. Two subsequent films participated in the main program of the Cannes Film Festival in 2005 and 2007, with the film Silent Light in 2007 awarded there a jury prize.
The drama "After the Darkness, Light" (2012) brought Reygadas the prize for best directorial work at the 65th Cannes Film Festival.
He also acts as a film producer.
