Born in Mexico City, Mexico - Mexican actor.

Thanks to his father, he fell in love with theater as a child, but preferred to play only for his own pleasure. His other hobbies during his youth were archery and working on a ranch in Saltillo, where he fed cows. In the end, he decided to study acting and entered the Televisa art education center. After completing his education, he joined the Nucleo de Estudios theater under the direction of Julio Castillo and Luis de Tavira.

Hernan got his first television role in 1992 in the series Angels Without Heaven. The actor's debut on the big screen took place only ten years later in the 2003 film Lefty. Subsequently, he got two more roles in the films "Wait for me in another world" and "Inner space". Hernan's breakthrough was his collaboration with director Michel Franco in 2012. The actor starred alongside Tessa Eeyore in the drama After Lucia. The film won a Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar by Mexico. Hernan received a nomination for the Ariel Prize and the CinEuphoria Awards for this role. In 2017, he continued his collaboration with Michel Franco in a new drama directed by Daughters Abril, where the rest of the roles were played by Emma Suarez, Ana Valeria Beserril, Enrique Arrizon. The film again won the Special Jury Prize at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
