The synthesis of different styles in the music of Earth, Wind & Fire set the band apart from the rest and made it popular all over the world. Mixing soul, gospel, pop, funk, jazz, rhythm and blues and African rhythms, the band members got a new sound that quickly found listeners. The band was founded by drummer Maurice White. In the original line-up, hand in hand with him went: Sherry Scott (vocals), Verdine White (bass), Phillard Williams (percussion), Michael Beale (guitar), Leslie Drayton (trumpet), Chester Washington (saxophone), Wade Flemons (vocals , keyboards) and Alex Thomas (arrangements, trombone). The first two compilations Earth, Wind & Fire (1970) and The Need Of Love (1971) were critically acclaimed, and the single I Think About Lovin 'You peaked in the Top 40 blues charts. Along with the striking successes came discord in the group. After the release of the second album, the collective ceases to exist, but already in 1972 the White brothers resumed work and assembled a new line-up. New team, which included Jessica Cleaves (vocals), Roland Batista (guitar), Ronnie Los (flute, saxophone), Larry Dunn (keyboards), Ralph and Philip Bailey (vocals) and Johnson (percussion), in the same year was spotted once again, debuting with Last Days & Time on CR. In the future, some members were replaced in the group, but this did not cause a deterioration in the quality of the music. On the contrary, the compilation Open Our Eyes went platinum, and the single from the album That's The Way Of The World took the group to the top of the pop charts. It is worth noting that after that Columbia Records demanded a new disc in a short time. Despite being limited in time, the Gratitude compilation went double platinum. and this was an important achievement not only for musicians, but also for a group of blacks. Then the participants had a dizzying success: a show with laser light effects, pyramids soaring in the air, concerts in European countries, in Japan, first places in the charts. Many people liked watching Earth, Wind & Fire, so the army of fans grew every day. But soon the success subsided and things began to decline. However, after several years of calm, Earth, Wind & Fire have not lost their fans, although the age of the members does not allow them to delight with new albums so often. So in 2005 the work Illumination was released, which delighted the participants with several Grammy nominations in different categories. The last album so far was Holiday 2014. Being on stage how old is Earth, Wind & Fire continues to perform to this day.
